イラナ・ハルペリン創作プロジェクト：フォトレポート6　Progress Photo Report #6: Ilana Halperin's Art-Science Project

写真：ホテル風月の裏手にある源泉パイプ。結晶と苔がつくりだす不思議な造形に、見とれてしまいます。

BEPPU PROJECTでは現在、スコットランド在住のアメリカ人アーティスト、イラナ・ハルペリンさんによる別府での創作プロジェクト『地質学的むつまじさ（湯の花）』の活動を、現地レポートという形でお手伝いしています。今回はその最終回です。

We, BEPPU PROJECT, are currently supporting 'Geologic Intimacy (Yu no Hana)', an art-science project by Scotland-based American artist Ilana Halperin. Our main role is providing on-site reports in Beppu throughout the development period. This is the final progress photo report.

Project Title: 'Geologic Intimacy (Yu no Hana)'

１：ひょうたん温泉/ Hyotan Onsen

湯雨竹（ゆめたけ）に設置しているオブジェ。竹を流れるお湯の温度が一段と熱くて、アチッ、アチッ〜！っとひと騒ぎしながら取り出しました。鍾乳洞のような手触り。
Objects installed under Umetake. Since this time the water temperature was higher than usual, I shouted 'hot, hot!' when I took them out! The surface texture is like the inside of a limestone cave.

温泉の源泉パイプのそばに流れる、お湯の川に浸しておいたオブジェは前回のチェックのあとに引き上げました。BEPPU PROJECT事務所でじっくり乾燥させています。
The objects placed under the spring stream near the Gensen pipes had already been taken out from the water at the last check. They have been dried out slowly in the BEPPU PROJECT office. 



２：旅館みかさや/ Ryokan Mikasaya

みかさやさんのオブジェ、今回もお湯がアツアツです。金バサミでつかんで、ゆっくり引き上げます。前回から大きな変化はありません。

The objects at Mikasaya. The spring water is very hot as usual. The objects were taken out of the water slowly with metal tongs. There is not a huge difference that we could see.



３：鉄輪 柳屋/ Yanagiya

源泉の水流に浸しつづけている砂岩のオブジェ。モコモコの成分が少しづつ固まってきているようです。
The sandstone object has been installed within the Gensen hot spring. It seems that the new fat minerals are gradually getting hardened.

側面がブラウニーケーキのようですね...。
The side looks almost like a chocolate brownie...

作業している頭上には、温泉の蒸気がもうもうと勢いよく噴射されています。夏日で汗だくだくです。
Steam of hot spring is furiously coming out from a pipe constantly overhead. So sweaty on a summer day!



４：砂原温泉/ Sunahara Onsen

こちらは現在、長いオブジェのみお湯につけています。全体的にちょっと茶色くなりましたね。
At Sunahara, only one pipe-like object has been put under the hot spring. It in whole has became a bit more brown.


５：ホテル風月 / Hotel Fugetsu

磁器のオブジェは白っぽくなりました。砂岩のオブジェの表面をよく見ると、紫、緑!? と、色味が複雑になってきました。

The ceramic object has became whiter. If we see the surface of the sandstone object closely.. we can see purple? or green!? It has developed a rather complex colour.


IMG_2691.jpgこのオブジェを置かせていただいている源泉パイプには、白い結晶がびっしり。

The Gensen pipe around where we have placed objects are surrounded closely by white crystals.
