platform05 is a Residence Space located in Beppu (Kyushu, South Japan). The space can be used for daily or short-term residence's projects. The residency space is a Japanese house called "Nagaya" (row house). "Nagaya" is the traditional form of urban housing in Japan dating back several hundred years.

platform05 is a space of possibilities. It is a stimulating environment for artists, creators and researchers related to the artistic field who would like to take time to develop and nurture their ideas. Located at the heart of a middle-size city, platform05 is like a window opened on a place full of tradition, history and with a time passing by at a different rhythm. Also the natural feature of the city with tones of hot spring water sprouting from the ground, makes it a very special place. The introduction of contemporary art in this place turns out to be really strong. That is why platform05 is a very unique and important space for the artists and creation. The residence is offering an ideal time and space for the time of research and for giving birth to emerging ideas.

Characteristics and facilities of platform05

The residency space is a Japanese house called "Nagaya" (row house). "Nagaya" is the traditional form of urban housing in Japan dating back several hundred years.

It is a two story house with tatami floor.

There is air-conditioner, internet connection, a small kitchen area, toilet (no shower room but famous and historical hot springs in the neighborhood).

The space is located in Beppu dowtown near convenient locations (station, automatic laundry, shops, etc).

For creators and researchers dedicated to the art field (performers, writers, visual artists, architects, sociologists, etc) who need a space for their research or writing, platform05 could be the ideal place.

For one week residence and over, BEPPU PROJECT can decide to provide a support depending on the project.

How to confirm the reservation?

The applicant needs to confirm the reservation by signing the rental agreement and proceeding to the payment of the reservation, as soon as the project is approved.

 

Check in / check out: Monday to Friday (10h to 18h)

The applicant should take appointment with BEPPU PROJECT staff.

 

 

The support from BEPPU PROJECT:

BEPPU PROJECT will not provide any financial support to the applicant, but can make a communication of the project through the website and social networks, and can help to connect with artistic networks (this would be discussed with the artist and BEPPU PROJECT team).

 

 

Projects not allowed

BEPPU PROJECT will refuse projects linked to:

1.      religious activities

2.      political activities

3.      illegal activities regarding to the Japanese law and its international conventions

4.      legal issues (copyright infrigment, financial troubles, etc)

5.      projects involving water, fire, loud noise or anything other elements that could cause damage to the house or its environment

6.      projects that require an important electricity power

 

Damage and eco-responsability

The renter should:

7.      replace or pay for repair in case of damage cause by the renter

8.      turn off all electric devices and water when it is not under use in order to save them

9.      take care of the own garbage (in case of stay less than a week)

10.    not smoke (the property is all non-smoking)
